WHS UIL Journalism members qualify for state championships

The Waxahachie High School UIL Journalism students captured the region journalism title and will now advance to compete at the State UIL Academic Championships on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at their designated hub site.

Waxahachie High students competed in the Region II-6A UIL Academic Championships on April 16 and 17. The journalism team — coached by WHS teacher Chrisanna Melik — captured the Region II-6A journalism title behind a flurry of individual wins.

The WHS journalism team improved their Region performance from 10th to first place since 2019, edging out Klein High School and Tomball Memorial High School for the team win. Bravo to our teachers and students on a hard-fought victory.
