Advanced Academics

Academic Rigor and College Readiness

Pathways to College Readiness

The most significant indicator of college success is participation in academically rigorous coursework during high school. Engaging in challenging studies as early as elementary and middle school lays the essential groundwork for students to succeed in college-level courses in high school. The Advanced Placement Program®, offered by the College Board, and the Dual Credit program in partnership with Navarro College, represent two rigorous academic pathways that allow students to complete college-level coursework while still in high school. These programs are designed to equip students with the skills and readiness necessary for postsecondary success.

To enroll in Pre-Advanced Placement, Advanced Placement, or Dual Credit courses, students must complete the agreement form. This document requires signatures from both a parent and a teacher, and must be submitted before the student meets with their counselor.
