Pre-AP and AP courses from the College Board offer rigorous instruction to help students prepare for college-level work in high school. Pre-AP coursework builds foundational skills and critical thinking, supporting varied abilities. AP coursework uses an advanced curriculum and exams for potential college credit. Both programs promote academic rigor, equity, and readiness for college success.

AP Examinations
Courses and Exams
Advanced Placement courses are both challenging and rewarding. WISD recognizes the value of taking AP Exams that correspond to the AP classes. Completing an AP course and earning a score of 3 or higher on the related AP Exam demonstrates mastery of rigorous, college-level material and may qualify students for college credit at many colleges and universities.
Registration
WHS AP Exams allow students taking a new Spring semester AP course the opportunity to register for the AP Exam.
Students in a Spring semester AP course or full-year AP course who did not register for their AP exams last semester will also be able to register, but will incur the College Board's $40 per exam late registration fee. This fee will not apply to exams for courses that started after November or AP Exams for students who transferred into WHS after the conclusion of the Fall AP Exam registration window.

Standard AP Exam Fees
- 1 AP Exam - $90
- 2 AP Exams - $70 each
- 3 AP Exams - $50 each
- 4 or 5 AP Exams - $40 each
Discount AP Exam Fees
- Students who are eligible for Free and Reduced Lunch waivers are provided a discount.
- 1 AP Exam - $13
- 2 AP Exams - $26 each
- 3 AP Exams - $39 each
- 4 or 5 AP Exams - $52 each
Students requiring financial assistance to pay their AP Exam Fees should make arrangements as soon as possible.
Procedures
AP Exam registration is a two-step process, utilizing two different websites.
STEP 1: Total Registration Website
- Begin the AP Exam registration process online. We understand that parents may want to register students for AP Exams. We strongly recommend that parents and students are both present to ensure that the correct AP Exams are ordered.
- To complete this portion of the registration process, students must answer all the required questions.
- Waxahachie High School is excited to offer families the convenience of paying AP Exam fees online at the time of registration. Paying online is a great way to make sure that the payment has been completed and to avoid the uncertainty of mailing the payment and hoping it is processed before the payment deadline. Please have a credit card or debit card available before beginning registration.
- Registration is not complete until students have printed the PDF of the confirmation page that is provided at the end of the Total Registration process. Keep these records as proof of payment and registration.
STEP 2: College Board Website
- The College Board requires students to order their AP Exam(s) through their College Board student account. After registering with Total Registration, students will be prompted to click the College Board link to order AP Exam(s) through the College Board system. You will not incur additional fees or charges when placing this AP Exam Order on the College Board website.
- Students may have previously completed this step when registering for the AP Classroom account with the teacher. Please follow the steps to confirm. If the site does not allow you to proceed, this step has been completed.
